Lucky Forward Headquarters pic

All of the heroes are not storybook combat fighters, either.  Every single man in this Army plays a vital role.  Don't ever give up!"
General Patton

General Patton's Army Headquarters, code named "Lucky Forward", the title of my latest CD. I found these pics online, replicas of the original Lucky Forward War Room.

September 1, 2013 House Concert

Tami Mulcahy with a Musical Update

Soooo many have asked, “What is it you do…I didn’t know you did music.”  Quietly, but yes, I've been writing songs since I was 15 and playing guitar and singing since I was 8.  I have three cd’s.   I have recorded with Grammy producers, opened at the Mountain Winery and taught songwriting to hundreds of kids.  I am a past board president of  West Coast Songwriters.  And now I'm having fun back in the performance world. You can hear my music atwww.T

High School Students - comments from Writers Week

Your message about writing how you feel and never doubting the validity of your own ideas was very powerful.  I can’t wait to check out some of your other music.

…because I feel that I truly learned not only how to express more emotion in lyrics, but also to just be freer in life and find inspiration in random corners of papers.

You really did inspire me to write more.  It helps me express myself in ways I never knew before.

Although I’ve admittedly never given much thought to songwriting before, your …Read more

House Concerts

House concerts…Build the audience!

House concerts are a throw back to the day when you sat around with 25 of your friends and shared your music.   House concerts are not new but they continue to grow as the bread and butter of performing artists.  So when you are polished and ready to take your show on the road, where to start?

First you need to understand that hosting a house concert is done out of love of music.  Hosts are not talent scouts or promoters.  They are simply gracious people who open up…

Music is free

Music is free.  So now what?

Music is free.  This should come as no surprise to anyone.  Recently I lamented the direction music is heading when someone made no bones in pointing out it’s not headed in that direction.  Music is free…now!

Death to the CD, the record, the album or any other name by which you would listen beginning to end to a collection of work by an artist.  I wonder why the Grammy’s still have an Album of the Year.

During four song writing sessions of about 90 high school students…

Going Pro in Song Writing

If you watch sports at all, you have probably seen the TV ad “There are over 400,000 NCAA student athletes, and almost all of them will go pro in something other than sports.”  It is a powerful message that I am pondering as I head in the annual “Writers Week” event at our local high school.  I am there to talk about song writing and answer questions such as how to be a songwriter, how to write songs, how do I write songs.

Guitar in hand, I go from class to class and do my best to hit the highlights -…

Songs about WW2

Lucky Forward was my way to document one soldier’s life. I recently heard a song in a similar vein called Debt Of Honor.  It got me curious about other story songs about ww2…not the background music you might hear in Private Ryan, but real life personal tributes. In an effort to see what other song writers have written about their family experiences, I went on a web search for songs about ww2 or world war two songs.  No surprise I only found all the hit songs that carried the troops and our country…

Lucky Forward

My Uncle Lyn was quick witted, a great story teller and always had a joke...he'd tell you in advance if it was clean or dirty.   He'd poke fun at everything and everyone.  But ultimately, he defined a man by whether or not he'd share a foxhole with him.

Lucky Forward was the code name for General Patton's army headquarters and a slogan among the troops.  I am embarrassed to admit I did not know the meaning of those two words when I first heard them.   The song Lucky Forward was trying to come to me…
